A big congrats to Des Moines Mayor Frank Cownie on getting re-elected yesterday!  Mr. Cownie is a huge supporter of the Des Moines Music scene and actually used to set up concerts for the city!  He even had Patrick and Devin on his TV Show last year!  Keep up the good work Mayor and thanks for supporting our killer music scene!

A record release in the age of indifference.

Our record release is this Friday, September 16th at Brick and Morthar Music Hall.

I wrote a thing about it, on my resurrected personal blog.

I think it’s pretty good. Maybe you will agree?

There are other stories, but this ones ours. – A record release in the age of indifference.

“Nordstrom has a waiting list for a Chanel sequined tweed coat with a $9,010 price.”

“Neiman Marcus has sold out in almost every size of Christian Louboutin “Bianca” platform pumps, at $775 a pair. Mercedes-Benz said it sold more cars last month in the United States than it had in any July in five years. Even with the economy in a funk and many Americans pulling back on spending, the rich are again buying designer clothing, luxury cars and about anything that catches their fancy. Luxury goods stores, which fared much worse than other retailers in the recession, are more than recovering — they are zooming. Many high-end businesses are even able to mark up, rather than discount, items to attract customers who equate quality with price.”

“If a designer shoe goes up from $800 to $860, who notices?”

For the record:  $860 is the approximate amount of money per month that the average disabled person receives from SSI (Supplemental Security Income).  From $860 they must pay rent, figure out transportation, find a way to eat and wait in long lines at county hospitals for medical emergencies.

In many states, the GOP wants to make this amount of money even smaller and harder to get…because clearly, disabled people are getting over on the rich.

So I ask you…does the lady in the picture look like a “job creator?”  Do you think she gives a shit about anyone but herself?

Still want to hand these assholes another tax break?

America, wise up.

Rock music just sounds better on vinyl.

We got our reference copies of These Things are Facts.

I know it is cliched to say how much better things sound on vinyl, but I have to say that the record we made, that I was already proud of, sounds about a million times better on 180 Gram vinyl. HOOOOOLY MOLY.

It’s totally not cool to hype up your own stuff, but i seriously cannot contain my excitement. This is the record that I knew we could and should make, and we have made it, we got tough, we got through it. And I couldn’t be happier with the results.

THESE THINGS ARE FACTS!

“I’m not much for hyperbole…” but Police Teeth is one of the best bands going right now. True stuff.
